As part of TEAM Buzz (Tech Enhancing Atlanta Metropolitan), the multi-organizational community service day, SOS took a short trip down North Avenue to Lindsay Street Baptist Church in order to distribute water conservation kits and compact flourescent light bulbs to nearby residents. In total, we passed out more than 45 water conservation kits and nearly 100 CFLs. Additionally, volunteers from Georgia Tech, City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management, the English Avenue Neighborhood Association and the church itself worked together to perform an energy and water use audit for the church as well as improve the surrounding landscape by planting bushes, trees and herbs. Students also constructed 3 rain barrels to meet outdoor watering needs. Thanks to everyone who came out to help!

CFLs save money on utility bills and last longer than incandescents. Free CFLs anyone??

You can see the meter moving when the incandescent bulb is on, but for the CFL it all but stops!
